We are aiming for this race, right? It's a race where we should get admitted and begin reminding the judges who we are and increase our likelihood of being picked for sonoma.

2 Application due date 4/12 on Tue Apr 01, 2014 7:49 am

According to the recent email, it looks like applications are due 4/12. I say the checkpoint before we apply should be a running and driving A4. Any objections?

Cass - Start working on that creative application essay.

No reason to hold of on the application, paying on the other hand should wait until we have a nearly race ready car

Can you guys give me any direction on theme or angle I should approach the application essay from?

I vote native american rain dance, but we can discuss themes this weekend.

A rain dance is pretty odd, but I can start working up ideas. Is it because you want to wear a headdress?

Fees are due this week unless we send an email asking for an extension. Who wants to send a sad email talking about whatever woes they want to make up for a couple extra weeks until we get the car more sorted?

8 Re: 6/21/14 - buttonwillow on Thu Apr 24, 2014 9:18 am

Is there a reason we are looking for an extension? We won't have tracked the car within the next few weeks so I don't see sorting the car being a valid excuse.

Hmmm... I guess not since we know the car runs, drives, and even passes smog. I can submit team fees. What about the 4th driver? Do we have someone we can ask? What is the price difference to have Cass as a driver instead of just pit crew?

It would be an extra $75 to have Cass as a driver

Unless we have a better option, we can do that. Alan, have you reached out to past teams. Even if they are in the Midwest, they could help us out.

What do you guys think about adding a fourth driver for this race? I ran into Steve McDaniel at the last race and he is looking for a seat at buttonwillow. I have raced with him a few time before and he is someone I would trust with the car.

Some reasons for adding a fourth driver;
Reduced cost
2:40 stints in 110° weather might be a bit much
It is an extra set of hand for when things go wrong

I am supportive of a 4th driver for the reasons laid forth. As long as he knows that this will be the car's 1st race and won't be upset if it doesn't finish, I have no objections.

I also support bringing on a real forth driver.

Race logistics talk.
I am coming to sac on thursday night to load the car up. Cass and I will be driving the truck down. Alan, you no longer need to go in the truck, but you can. I figure we just need 1 other vehicle, so marc or alan, you decide on your logistics and if you want to go in the truck or drive yourselves.

I wouldn't mind riding in the truck.

Do you guys remember how we did the radio hookup? I am trying to figure out what Marc needs to order so he can plug into our system that we devised.

I have radio equipment with my race suit.  I know we had radios, but I don't remember if we ever figured out how to work them very well.  I'll bring what I have and hopefully we can figure something out. If we can't make anything work, it won't be the end of the world.
